SandboxAQ has joined the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) as a founding member of its newly launched AI Hub, a global initiative designed to provide AI-driven solutions and expertise to more than 100 UN entities and international organisations.
The UNICC, the UN system’s leading strategic partner for digital solutions and cybersecurity, has launched the AI Hub to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across its network. As part of its initial collaboration, SandboxAQ will integrate its AQtive Guard unified encryption management platform, helping UNICC member organisations detect and mitigate cryptographic vulnerabilities across their IT infrastructure. By identifying outdated or expired encryption keys, algorithms, and certificates, these services will enable organisations to upgrade their security posture against emerging threats, including AI- and quantum-based cyberattacks.
“Over the last five decades, UNICC has continually expanded the diverse technology services designed for the UN family, including fostering strategic partnerships with trusted partners like SandboxAQ to develop state-of-the-art solutions,” said Sameer Chauhan, Director, UNICC. “Leveraging SandboxAQ’s innovative quantum, AI and cybersecurity solutions, we’re pleased to welcome them as a founding member of the UNICC AI Hub and share their expertise with our partners.”
UNICC AI Hub: A Global Center for AI Innovation
The AI Hub aims to be the UN system’s primary AI solutions provider, bringing together top industry experts, partners, and resources to drive positive global impact. The hub will offer expertise and training in predictive, generative, and quantitative AI models tailored to the needs of UN organisations. With a strong focus on security, compliance, and performance, the AI Hub will guide UN partners in setting up and scaling AI-driven initiatives while ensuring ethical standards and data integrity.
Beyond cybersecurity, SandboxAQ will collaborate with UNICC to roll out AI-powered Large Quantitative Models (LQMs), which have the potential to transform complex system modeling, post-quantum cryptography, and predictive analytics. These innovations will support a range of UN Sustainable Development Goals, including clean water access, healthcare improvements, climate action, and renewable energy initiatives.
“As AI continues to fundamentally transform all aspects of our daily lives and the global digital economy, we applaud the UNICC’s bold step to create a one-stop shop where all UN agencies and affiliates can find the AI expertise, resources and solutions they need to protect themselves from cyber attacks and affect positive change on a global scale,” said Stefan Leichenauer, VP Engineering of SandboxAQ. “SandboxAQ is incredibly proud to be a founding member of the UNICC’s AI Hub, and we look forward to helping its members tackle some of society’s biggest challenges.”
Looking Ahead
As a founding member of the UNICC AI Hub, SandboxAQ’s expertise in AI, quantum technology, and cybersecurity will play a pivotal role in fortifying the UN’s digital defences and advancing AI-driven innovation on a global scale. With its focus on cryptographic security and the development of quantitative AI models, the partnership underscores the increasing role of AI in addressing critical international challenges—from cybersecurity threats to sustainable development.
