Emirates Petroleum Company P.J.S.C (Emarat) gas stations in the United Arab Emirates will soon accept cryptocurrency payments through dedicated Crypto.com terminals.

Crypto.com has signed a memorandum of understanding with Emarat, a federal public corporation established by the UAE government to sell and distribute petroleum products and one of the largest fuel networks in the country. The agreement outlines their collaboration on Project Landmark, a strategic initiative aimed at mainstreaming cryptocurrency payments in everyday transactions across the UAE.

Under the project, Emarat will introduce cryptocurrency payment terminals at its gas stations, initially rolling out at 10 locations. Pending regulatory approval, the project will expand to Emarat’s entire network of over 155 stations across the UAE.

A key component of the partnership is the launch of the world’s first cryptocurrency-branded gas station, the Crypto.com Emarat Service Station, to be located on Al Wasl Road in Dubai.

Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Chief Retail Officer & Senior Vice President – Marketing at Emarat, emphasized that the partnership with Crypto.com will enable the company to offer advanced and convenient payment solutions, aligning with the growing demand for digital asset transactions.

Cryptocurrency payments continue to gain traction globally. In Panama City, residents can pay taxes using digital assets, while Toulouse enables cryptocurrency payments for transportation fares. Meanwhile, Brazil is exploring the possibility of allowing salaries to be paid in cryptocurrency.

“The era of cryptocurrencies as a purely speculative asset is over. Businesses and consumers are demanding real value, and cryptocurrency payments are becoming the industry standard. The adoption curve for cryptocurrencies is shifting — what was once seen as an alternative is now becoming a necessity,” said Max Krupyshev, CEO of CoinsPaid.
